An official Partner of the University of Newcastle

As part of the Smarter Schools National Partnerships ‘Centre for Excellence’ initiative, Merewether Public has been officially partnered with the University of Newcastle to facilitate better professional experience (practicum) placements and professional development for our staff.

The NSW Minister for Education and Training Verity Firth likens centres for excellence, such as Merewether Public, to ‘teaching hospitals’, as they will allow the next generation of teachers to observe high quality teaching first-hand.

This is a great opportunity for the school, our teachers and students. We will be at the cutting edge of contemporary quality teaching and learning.
